Currently Saugata is working as a Group Chief Digital and Information Officer with the Kalpataru Group.
Prior to this, he was the Chief Technology and Digital Officer with the Aditya Birla Group – Textiles Sector and was responsible for driving Digital Enablement, IT strategy and service delivery. Within Aditya Birla, he has prior experience of heading the Enterprise Application portfolio at Group Level and also as Chief Information Officer for the Commodities Trading Business. In his roles as Business CIO, Saugata has been instrumental in accelerating Cloud Adoption and delivering better user experience and improved productivity using Automation and IoT based solutions.
In his current role, the primary focus has been innovating in the area of Digital Analytics for better price forecasting – raw material & finished goods; customer segmentation and Inventory management so as to increase revenue growth, address new markets and customer segments and better working capital management. Digital enablement of Supply Chain has also been a priority area wherein significant success has been achieved in Planning & Optimization, Smart Warehousing and Traceability of orders.This has enabled better OTIF as well as customer collaboration and reduced wastage.
The pandemic in 2020 has also driven Saugata and his team to prioritize and deliver technology solutions in the customer facing areas of new product development leveraging collaboration platforms; order booking using Digital Trade platforms for B2B as well as B2C customers. Contactless solutions at factory level have also been introduced to aid health and safety monitoring and control of employees.
In his earlier role as Global Practice Head for Enterprise Application at Aegis, Saugata was responsible for Service Delivery, managing 400+ resources and annual revenue of $ 15 million.
Saugata has experience in managing multi-country implementation and roll outs as well as running IT Delivery Management services in USA, Europe and India. He has a strong exposure to the Retail sector with experiences in Textiles, Fashion, Food & Beverage as well as Petrochemicals Industry
