Mr. Jatinder Handoo is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at the Digital Lenders Association of India (DLAI), the premier national-level industry association for institutions engaged in the fintech ecosystem in India. With over two decades of experience in banking, fintech, and public policy, Mr. Handoo began his career at the State Bank of India, focusing on rural banking, MSME, and emerging corporates. He later joined HDFC Bank Ltd. as a senior member of the Commodities Business Group, before transitioning to roles in finance and public policy.
Mr. Handoo has also worked at the Washington D.C.-based Microfinance Information Exchange (MIX Inc), where he played a key role in microfinance analytics, capacity building, and SPM reporting across Asia and Eastern Europe. At the onset of the fintech wave in India, he was part of FINO Paytech Ltd. (now FINO Payments Bank), and his most recent role was with MFIN, an RBI recognized Self-Regulatory Organisation for regulated microfinance institutions.
He has recently co-authored a book titled “Financial Inclusion in Circular Economy: A Bumpy Road Towards Sustainable Development,” available on Amazon. Mr. Handoo regularly contributes to business newspapers and platforms on topics related to financial inclusion and fintech regulations.
Educationally, Mr. Handoo is a scholar in Economics and Public Policy at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Shillong. He studied FinTech & Regulation (CFTRI Prog.) at the Judge Business School, University of Cambridge, U.K., and the University of Luxembourg. He is an alumnus of the prestigious COADY International Institute, St. FX University, Canada, and holds a graduate degree in Public Policy.
